All about Camp Phoenix

Camp Phoenix is a ministry of the Diocese of Missouri. In 2006 it celebrated its second year as the Diocese's successor to Cliff Springs Camp, a long-time joint venture of the dioceses of Missouri and West Missouri.

This year, 72 campers and 17 staff members spent a week braving the summer heat and the "wilds" of southern Illinois for another week of fun, friends, and faith.

The third season of Camp Phoenix will be July 29 to Aug. 4, 2007.

Our facility
Camp Phoenix
is located between DuBois and Nashville, Ill., on 240 wooded acres surrounding a large lake at the United Church of Christ's DuBois Conference Center.

Boys and girls live in cabins in separate villages within the camp. They share in activities and meals. Campers have opportunities to swim, ride horses, hike, canoe, and participate in crafts, archery, and a team-building outdoor adventure course. Each day includes a joyful spiritual connection to our Episcopal faith.

Camp Phoenix is accredited by the American Camping Association.

Our staff

Camp Phoenix is led by a camp director and a clergy spiritual director. They are assisted by a trained professional staff and volunteers who love and care for the individual child and the entire camp family.

Volunteers are needed. If you can spare a week off from work or school or home, don't mind roughing it without the creature comforts of home, have a great rapport with kids, and are at least 18 years of age, then we want to hear from you.

Camp is a great place to make new friends, to meet other Episcopalians your own age from other parts of the Diocese, and to just have fun.
